Gorilla Tour – Finally an Accommodated Gorilla Tour and a Kampala to Kampala (camping or accommodated) Option
It is with great excitement that we can confirm that Nomad is launching an Accommodated Gorilla tour. To our knowledge this development is unique in the overland market and if you’re looking for a little more comfort while visiting these incredible animals, this is the tour to book! Please remember, however, that East African accommodation is not on par with Southern Africa! This tour will be offered as an option on our existing Gorilla trip. The 1 night excursion into the Masai Mara will only be offered in camping, therefore all clients will camp on night 2.
Due to increasing demand for a Gorilla only product we are also launching a Kampala -Kampala section on our existing Gorilla tour which will be an 8 Day tour into Uganda and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Camping: Best of Kenya and Tanzania, Discover Kenya and Treasures of Tanzania
We have made a small change in the itinerary of these tours, which will now be slightly shorter, still including the Serengeti National Park and the Masai Mara as the featured highlights.
Camping: South African Dive Safari
The Dive Safari itinerary has been changed, and we now have four options for you – 19, 13, 7 and 6 day tours which will operate between Mozambique and South Africa and include everything from mantas, whale sharks and morays to tigers, great whites and more hammerheads and blacktips than you’d ever experience in a lifetime of diving!
Why are we the only operator with an Activity Package and not a Local Payment?
Over the course of the last few years Nomad has steadily been improving the quality of our tours by including more and more exciting new experiences. Sadly, the nett effect was that Nomad tours got more expensive and questions were raised about value for money –a core driving principle at Nomad.
If you take any Nomad tour and compare included activities you will see that, almost without exception, Nomad offers way more than our competitors. Sadly this is not easy to see without doing a detailed comparison. And so, the Activity Package and its transparency was born.
We called it an Activity Package because we wanted separation from the traditional Local Payment. For most companies a Local Payment covers things like food and park fees. In no way did we want to be associated with that. Our Activity Package includes activities and special experiences that are operated by third parties and park fees only.
The Activity Package is not compulsory on 90% of the tours which means that for those on a tight budget who cannot afford the Activity Package – Africa remains within their grasp. We do recommend that to really experience the full benefits of a Nomad tour, that you do choose to take the Activity Package. You will be able to book these activities while you are on tour but they will then be subject to availability – book early to avoid disappointment.
The Benefits of Camping and Accommodated Combination Tours
Many Nomad tours have successfully been amended to allow camping and accommodated guests to travel and experience Africa together while having different tour accommodation. Fortunately, we have found this to be an enriching experience for the guests. There are also some great benefits of this that you may not have realised! Not only has our maximum group size been restricted to 18 from 24, but these tours all have a third crew member which means you will only ever have a maximum of 6 guests to 1 guide. This equates to more space, more personal attention, more comfort and less hassle –all valued criteria when choosing a tour.
Why book a Small Group tour?
For those of you who don’t know, Nomad Tours small groups carry a maximum of 12 guests. They are unique in that they operate in our 24 seater vehicles. A full vehicle is a full vehicle, whether it is a 12 seater or a 24 seater and anyone who has been in a full vehicle will know that when it’s time for getting that perfect photograph, putting your head down to rest, getting to your luggage and generally moving around the truck, space can be a little tight. But, by having 12 passengers in a 24 seater vehicle, everyone has their own double seat and window access. That’s almost luxurious in terms of overlanding!
Zimbabwe
Please don’t forget about our Zimbabwe tour! Zimbabwe is on the road to recovery and she needs support. For those of you who have visited will know that Zimbabwe is a wonderful destination. Please give Zim a hand! We have also included some interesting combo options on the Zim tour to offer additional options to those who are interested in visiting this very special country.
Accommodated Cape Town to Victoria Falls
We have made an itinerary change, which now sees us including the Brandberg & White Lady after Swakopmund. The journey to Swakopmund has now become 7 days as opposed to 8 days and the Swakopmund to Victoria Falls leg now gains a day from 13 days to 14 days;
Day 4: Auob Lodge and Quiver Tree Forest have been removed
Day 6/7: These now become the Swakopmund days and we will be staying at Stay @ Swakopmund
Day 8: We will stay at Igowati Lodge and will visit Brandberg, White Lady & Petrified Forest
Day 12: Accommodation has changed from Hotel Safari to Arebbusch Lodge
Day 13: Accommodation has changed from Tautona Lodge to Ghanzi Trailblazers
