African Wild Dogs are one of Africa’s most endangered predators thanks to endless poaching and other human contact areas, especially farming related. They are highly social and extremely adept hunters however their numbers are dwindling rapidly! There are some fantastic organisations which have been working together, especially in Zambia, to ensure the survival of the “Painted Hunting Dog” and thanks to these actions by the organisations, our guests have the opportunity of seeing these beautiful creatures on safari.

We have received feedback from Wildlife Camp in the South Luangwa, Zambia, that our guests spotted not only the African Wild Dogs but also an evening sighting of a leopard! Here are some great shots of the dogs by Conrad Cooke (Wildlife Camp Manager) and the leopard pictures are compliments of Guido Kindt – thank you both for letting us visit this wilderness and experience these sightings vicariously through your pictures!

African Wilddog Ears are spotted in the distance!
Curiously, we take a closer look at each other..
Having a yawn and playing it casual
The dogs approach us cautiously, look at the beautiful colours on this old boy!
Feeling a little more at home, it’s time for a stretch…
And we’re off on the hunt again, those guinea fowl are very brave playing “chicken” with the Wild Dogs!
Excellent evening sighting of a leopard in the South Luangwa National Park!
