25 Awesome Songs To Listen to On A Nomad AFRICA Tour

27 February 2023

There’s something special about listening to music while touring through Africa that brings back memories and feelings of nostalgia. The sound of the engine and tires hitting the gravel road, mixed with your favorite tunes creates a unique experience that’s hard to replicate in any other setting. It’s a time when you’re alone with your thoughts, free from distractions, and can fully immerse yourself in the music and landscapes being frame by the window.

As you drive, the scenery outside the window changes, and so does the music that accompanies you on your journey. Each song reminds you of a specific moment in your life, a person, a place, or a feeling. You can’t help but feel transported back in time, reliving those memories and emotions.

No matter what the music is, listening to it while driving will always hold a special place in our hearts. It’s a reminder of all the journeys we’ve taken, the people we’ve met, the experiences we’ve shared, and the memories we’ve made.

Music and Nomad Africa’s tours go hand in hand, as sometimes all we need is a melody to fill the quiet spaces while our eyes take in the surroundings. Over time, our guides and guests, clients and crew, have collected a plethora of moments that are perfectly paired with a particular song they heard at that exact moment, and it’s hard to reminisce about one without the other. Below is a collection of some of those songs, ranging from recent hits to old classics… songs that cater to every taste, and you can vote for your favourite.

If you have a song that evokes a particular moment from your tour, feel free to share it in the comments section below, we’d love to hear it. We have also created a YouTube playlist that we’ll update regularly, and you can download it onto your device before your next tour. Enjoy the musical journey!

Fun Fact: Did you know, all tours start off with a song by the artist you truck is named after!

I recommend „ Blisters“ from Lee Oscar

great list! for me a song (any song) by Brenda Fassie should be in here as well! :-) => love her Album Nomakanjani. played it so many times while driving during my Vicfalls-capetown tour.

  3. Not sure which songs were playing on our first Nomad Safari in 2000 but we enjoyed them all! We do remember several from 2010 on the Etosha run. Thanks for the memories.

  4. Joel Baumbaugh says:

The only song that I would add is “Here comes the Sun” by the Beatles. After a rain it’s the perfect song.

  5. Julie says:

Brilliant mix of songs, well done and what a fabulous idea!! Being an Aussie who’s done 3 wonderful solo trips with you and will be back for more – would AC/DC’s Highway to Hell be appropriate or not 🙊🙉🙈xxx🥳

  6. Tanja says:

Zahara! Everything, but especially “Destiny” and the whole “Loliwe” Record. I got to know her first at my Nomad tour. The guides heard them all the time in the truck ;-)

  7. Miri says:

Every song from the band ‘die heuwels fantasties’ (released before 2012) reminds me of my Nomad tour!

  8. Carin says:

So amazing. Love the list. My only addition would be anything by Fleetwood Mac but wow, that Royksopp track took me to some other places that brought back some great memories. Thank you. Carin.
