Kavango River
The Kavango River, more popularly known as the Okavango River is a 1600km stretch of crocodile and hippo infested water that serves as a vital water source for Botswana, Namibia and Angola. Its waters also serve as an exciting source of adventure for visitors and thrill seekers alike.
No visit to the Kavango River would be complete without a sunset cruise along the gentle flow. Choose from either a ride in the traditional Wate Dugout, the main mode of transport for locals or enjoy the quite life on board a houseboat or tender. Alternatively satiate your hunger for adventure and river raft along the rougher waters found along its stretch.
The waters of the Kavango River are also the ideal spot for avid-fishers who will find Tilapia, Sharptooth Catfish, Bream and African Pike at the end of their fishing lines. While perched on the river’s edge you may find yourself mingling with a few elephants, reedbuck and buffalo which frequent the Kanvango River to drink water.
There are plenty of tours to Kavango River and it’s important to find the one that suits both your viewing and adventuring needs. This is one of the most exciting attractions in South West Africa and should definitely be on your list of things to see and do should you be planning a trip to this region.
