Addo Elephant National Park

The Addo Elephant Park is situated about an hour outside of the city of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape and is recognised as one of South Africa’s most popular national parks and game reserves. It is sanctuary to over 550 elephants in just 120 000 hectares. It is also the third largest national park in South Africa and is the only one to incorporate a marine area into its conservation strategy.

The Addo Elephant Park was established in 1931 in an attempt to protect the sixteen elephants that remained in the region. They were successful in their mission and have significantly brought back and restored the population of African elephants to the Eastern Cape region. They’ve also introduced lions, giraffe, zebras and rhinos into the park, as well as antelope, buffalo and spotted hyena. Their marine section extends to invite guests to observe the southern right whales, dolphins and sea life in the Indian Ocean coast next to the park.

Visit the Addo Elephant Park with Nomad tours and observe nature thriving in its most natural environment. Go on game drives, walking safaris, horse trails and bird watching; be inspired by the park’s lush beauty and enchanting wildlife. Depending on which tour you decide to embark on or how long you choose to stay in the park, you can even be pampered by its luxurious accommodation. Either way the smell of the citrus tree, baked earth and fresh air will treat you to the authentic African experience that you’ve been dreaming of.
