Okavango Delta

Nomad has partnered up with a local operator to take our tours that pass through the Okavango Delta to new heights!

We are beyond excited to introduce to you new eco-camps in the North Eastern panhandle of the Okavango Delta.  Privacy at these camps is unsurpassed as guests don’t encounter any other groups or operators in this area.  We enter a pristine wilderness that is rich in game and birdlife and where our guests can view a myriad of unique wonders by boat, on foot, in a mokoro or on a game drive in a 4 x 4 vehicle.  This is an opportunity to experience a true African wilderness adventure into the heart of one of Africa’s 7 Natural Wonders.  Jumbo Junction (camping), Fallen Baobab (accommodated in meru style safari tents) and Kana Kara (accommodated in meru style safari tents) can all be booked as part of our scheduled tours, as part of a self drive holiday or you can fly in and come and visit the camps.  Contact us and let us know your preferences, we’ll take it from there!

Kana Kara

The most remote of the three camps, Kana Kara is situated snugly on an island in the middle of the Vumbura flood plains, a spectacular backdrop to this rustic camp.  Shower under the stars, dine in the fresh evening air and experience the herds of antelope, buffalo, elephant and the occasional predator that comes to visit.  4 x 4 game drive safaris rarely disappoint as the bushveld plains always offer up delightful treasures.  This camp truly is a photographer’s dream as the wildlife here is not afraid to come and greet you in camp.   Comprising eight twin share meru-style tents, each with en-suite facilities, the camp is nothing short of the ultimate back to nature, bush experience.  The camp can be reached by plane from either Maun or Kasane, making it perfectly located for guests travelling either to or from the Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls.

Fallen Baobab

Arrive at Fallen Baobab to the rich warm voices of our staff as we welcome you in song to our understated luxurious and private wilderness camp.  Enjoy dining under the stars, put your feet up in our tented lounge and enjoy a range of activities at this comfortable and relaxing camp.  The Baobab tree, long revered for its endurance, age and value to both man and animal alike, forms the centrepiece of this unique upmarket tented camp.  Broken when it was young, the baobab showed its true resilience by continuing to grow, skew and horizontal, into a magnificent guardian of all who come to visit.  Wildlife abounds around the camps and at night a cacophony of calls breaks out as the animals communicate with each other.   The camp has eleven mobile, en-suite, twin-share meru style safari tents and, like Kana Kara, is also easily reached by plane from either Maun or Kasane.

Jumbo Junction

Jumbo Junction lies to the East of the regional town of Seronga, on the flood plain that spills over from the Selinda channel.  Jumbo Junction is named after the elephant corridor that passes through the front of the camp and into the Delta.  Each year in late autumn, the herds arrive from as far afield as western Angola, but not without stopping in the Mopane woodlands north of the camp.  This migration makes Jumbo Junction a truly spectacular stopover, with flood plains surrounding the camp on three sides and the comfort of a large boma with a fully stocked bar and dining area.  Jumbo Junction is aimed at the more budget conscious traveller offering two private camps, each with twelve pre-erected dome tents containing two single stretcher beds each.

Belvedere Estate

Nomad’s boutique hotel in Johannesburg has comfortably been hosting our guests and guides over the past year and the feedback and great knock on effect that it is having on everyone’s enjoyment of their tour has surpassed our expectations.  For a smooth and enjoyable experience, please ensure that you book your pre and post tour accommodation for our scheduled tours.  Also keep in mind that Belvedere is a perfect location and setting for birthdays, weddings, or any other leisure and corporate activity that you’re interested in.

Tour Changes

Discover Mozambique
On our Mozambique tour, we will be spending an additional night in Swaziland before heading to Mozambique.  We will also be upgrading the accommodation that we stay at in Inhambane and Vilanculos, campers will enjoy this as they will be accommodated for six nights of this tour.

South African Explorer, north and south
We have jam packed this tour with included activities and have moved them out of the Activity Package and into the tour.  We have also updated the activity package and will be including a cultural tour and cheese and wine tasting for 2016.  The most exciting update on this tour is that we will now be spending two nights in the Addo area.

Masai Mara and Gorillas tour
On the Kenyan Parks Highlights Excursion, the first two nights of the tour, campers will be accommodated and we will be staying inside Lake Nakuru National Park.  We will be upgrading our accommodation at Murchison Falls as well as in Kampala and have included a visit to the Pygmies as part of the tour activity package.

East African Adventure
We have included the visit to the textile factory as part of the tour, removed the museum visit and historical tour from the activity package and included a game drive in Mikumi National Park.  We will also be spending an additional night at Lake Malawi and upgrading our accommodation in the Northern part of the lake.  We will also include in our Zanzibar Excursion, three dinners and a Spice Tour in Stone Town.

Tour Duration Changes
As we have increased the number of departures, and moved the start day of some of the tours, this does directly influence the combination tours and they will be either shortened or lengthened by one day.  The destination that is affected is the complimentary combo accommodation in Victoria Falls.

We look forward to having you on tour with us so don’t delay, send all your questions and queries our way.
