On this tour from Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg, we seek out some of Africa’s top safari destinations. We will discover the secrets that lie within the South Luangwa National Park, stand above the heights of Victoria Falls and look for rainbows in the sunshine before making our way to Chobe National Park where we will sip on sundowners as we watch the sun set over bathing elephants and grunting hippos. We then explore the waterways of the Okavango Delta by dugout canoe (traditionally known as a mokoro) on a three day adventure into the pristine wilderness.

Our tours come with an Activity Package. This is an optional additional payment that covers what we consider to be ‘essential activities’ on our tours and therefore this itinerary has been written with these items included in the day-by-day itinerary. Ideally we would include all of these, but not everyone can afford this.
Today we leave the humid Indian Ocean coastline and our journey leads us to Mikumi National Park. Mikumi is home to lion, zebra, wildebeest, impala, buffalo and elephant. Today we have the opportunity to enjoy an optional afternoon game drive through the park.
Today we travel further inland and up to Iringa in the highland tea growing area. This evening our dinner is a traditional Kihehe dinner in a Kihehe hut (local tribe) or dinner in the famous Mud Ruins restaurant.
Malawi – Northern Lake Malawi
Leaving Tanzania we descend though scenic mountain passes to our lakeshore camp at Chitimba. Set on a golden sandy beach amongst banana palms and papaya trees, our accommodation for the night is surrounded by the famous Livingstonia and Nyika mountains.
After arrival at Kande Beach, we will spend the next 2 days enjoying the many optional activities available, such as canoe rental and different water sports.
Today is free to relax or participate in one of the many optional activities available. In the afternoon we will go on a guided village walk in order to meet the local people and learn more about Malawian life.
Today we depart Kande Beach and head towards the bustling city of Lilongwe. En route, we will stop at a local market to experience the culture and way of live of the Malawian people.
Zambia – South Luangwa National Park
Early in the morning we drive from Malawi and cross in to Zambia and continue to the South Luangwa National Park where we spend the next two nights right on the banks of the Luangwa River. You can often see hippos and other animals from the camp bar. This afternoon we enjoy an included sunset game drive in the South Luangwa NP.
South Luangwa National Park
In the morning you have the opportunity to take another game drive. The park is known for its high concentration of leopards and hippos. After lunch we visit the community run tribal textile project and a local village.
We leave South Luangwa and drive through to Chipata where we will relax in the afternoon. Zambia is truly Africa, with its lush, sub-tropical vegetation.
The journey towards the bustling Zambian capital of Lusaka takes us along an interesting route. On week days there may be the opportunity to visit one of the interesting local markets of the Zambian capital city.
Today we journey from Lusaka, across the Zimbabwean border into Victoria Falls.
Today is free for you to relax and explor the magnificent town of Victoria Falls. Take the time to visit the markets to buy some curios or you can participate in one of the many optional activities available here.
Zimbabwe – Victoria Falls – Botswana - Kasane
Today we visit the spectacular Victoria Falls and experience the thundering sound of the mighty Zambezi before crossing the Botswana border to Kasane, situated on the banks of the Chobe River and enjoy a scenic sunset river cruise. As we leave Victoria Falls today it is best to arrive 1-2 days beforehand if you wish to partake in any of the adventure activities such as the world-famous White Water Rafting.
This morning you will have the opportunity to participate in an optional game drive through the Chobe National Park.
We drive through to Maun. On arrival we will pack small overnight bags and prepare for our 2-day expedition into the Okavango. The rivers leading to the Okavango Delta have no passage to the ocean and irrigate instead some 15,000 square km’s of Kalahari Desert – forming the world’s largest inland Delta.
During your time in the Delta we enjoy the best nature has to offer. We travel into the Delta on a large 4×4 vehicle – in high water season boats are used. We join up with some of the local people and set up our bush camp for the next 2 nights. We go on nature walks and explore the Delta by mokoro traditional canoe (water level dependant). The Delta is truly spectacular and an unforgettable experience as the wild animals here are not used to people. Simply sitting and relaxing often results in rewarding bird or game viewing.

We leave the Delta behind us and travel east towards the town of Nata, near the Makgadikgadi Pans. The shady tree canopy surrounding the lodge is a hive of activity, with a bird feeding area and active water feature providing the bird watcher with the opportunity of viewing a variety of species from the comfort of the pool deck. The Helmeted Guineafowl, Crested Francolin, Yellow Hornbill, Pied and Arrowmarked Babblers, Glossy Starling, Meyers Parrot and Paradise Whydah are just some of the species you may encounter during your stay at the lodge.
Khama Rhino Sanctuary - Palapye
We leave Nata behind us and drive towards Palapye, located on the banks of the tranquil Lotsane River. We visit the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, a community based wildlife project, where we experience a game drive to view the protected Rhinos.
South Africa - Johannesburg
Today we cross the border into South Africa and after quite a long, yet scenic drive we will arrive in Johannesburg. South Africa’s city of gold has much to offer and should not be underestimated as a travel destination.
