Lake Naivasha
Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake in Kenya. It lies just north west of Nairobi and just outside of the town, Naivasha. Its name derived from the “Nai’posha”, the Masai word for “rough water”; a name which aptly describes the sudden storms which arise in the region. The lake has a vast surface area of 139 square kilometres and averages at 6 meters in depth.
Lake Naivasha is home to over 400 different bird species, making it a true paradise for avid bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. Here, you’ll also have the opportunity to see the lakes vast hippo population and other wild animals, including the big five and antelope.
What many tourists don’t know when visiting Lake Naivasha is that there are two smaller lakes in close proximity to the lake: Lake Oloiden and Lake Sonachi, a green crater lake. These lakes have an abundance of wildlife and offer guests incredibly beautiful views and exciting activities.
