WHAT’S NEW AT NOMAD FOR 2014?

This year, we have been getting our hands dirty building truck bodies, we’ve been getting our minds busy updating all of our systems, we’ve been listening to your tour feedback and updating our tours accordingly. We’ve also been sharpening our pencils to ensure that we continue to bring you the best value, ultimate adventure tours available on the market today!

We have increased food budgets on all routes, our product team has done intensive investigation to secure the best accommodation available on our tours, we have replaced more than 100 of our tents, 5 new trucks have been purchased and 6 of our truck bodies are being replaced with our new deluxe models. By the end of 2013, you will only see our A-class truck bodies on the road, so individual lockers and large slide down windows will be guaranteed on all of our Nomad trucks.

Our continuous reinvestment into our tours and staff will ensure that Nomad continues to offer the highest standard of adventure tours in Southern and East Africa.

Our focus for 2014 will include, but is not limited to:
Group Tours:

Are you interested in renting a truck and experienced guides to take you and your closest friends on a holiday to wherever it is that you tell us to go? Are you looking for a unique way of celebrating a special occasion? Do you have a special interest group of friends or family that you’d like to organise a tour for? If so, our groups department can handle these enquiries for you, whether it be in an air-conditioned bus, an adventure truck, a minivan or a 4 x 4, we will tailor make a tour for you from scratch, offering you complete flexibility. We also organise trucks, drivers, cooks and camping equipment for music festivals, so if you’d like us to organise this for you, contact us, we’re more than happy to assist!

Tailor-Made Tours:
Due to the fact that we have been operating tours in Africa for over 15 years, we have excellent service networks and an intimate knowledge of the areas that you would like to visit. If you do not want to book individual transfers, flights, car hire and accommodation, Nomad is in an excellent position to handle this for you.

Guaranteed and German Tours:
Due to the popularity of our South Africa, East Africa and Gorilla tours, we have significantly increased our number of departures and guaranteed tours for 2014.

We have noticed that there is an increase in interest from our German guests on the Masai Mara and Gorilla tour, the East African Adventure tour and the Okavango and Chobe trail so we will now be offering select departures on these tours with a German translator.

Small Group Departures:
As you know, Nomad small groups operate on a maximum of 12 guests, they are unique in that we operate these tours in our 24 seater vehicles. The thought process behind this is that a full vehicle is a full vehicle, whether it is a 12 seater van or a 24 seater truck. By having 12 guests in a 24 seater vehicle, everyone has their own double seat as well as their own window seat. The great news for 2014, is that we have been able to increase the number of guaranteed small group departures, both with and without a German translator on board.

NEW TOURS!

5 Day Best of Zimbabwe Tour (Camping and Accommodated, Victoria Falls to Johannesburg):

There has been a lot of interest in a Zimbabwe tour however our current itinerary is not attracting the attention it deserves. We have come to the conclusion that you want to see Zimbabwe as part of your holiday, not exclusively. We have therefore decided to shorten this tour to a 5 day camping and accommodated tour and include the highlights of Hwange National Park (home to one of Africa’s largest elephant herds), Matopos National Park (exquisite granite boulder formations), Great Zimbabwe Ruins (UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ruined, iron age capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe) and then down to Tshipise, ending the tour in Johannesburg.

Great Zimbabwe Ruins

One of the most exciting aspects of this new itinerary is that it combines perfectly with our Cape to Vic Falls, Okavango and Chobe Trail, Kruger, South African Explorer and Mozambique tours. This means that we now have a Johannesburg to Johannesburg round tour including the Okavango Delta, Chobe, Victoria Falls, Hwange, The Great Zimbabwe Ruins and Kruger – no Southern African flights required.

Take a good look at this tour as we believe it will be surprisingly popular for 2014!

6 Day Botswana Highlights Tour (Maun to Vic Falls or Vic Falls to Maun, Camping or Accommodated):

Thanks to Air Botswana and South African Airways’ daily departures into and out of Maun, this tour will include a visit to the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls, alleviating the need to travel for two days from Johannesburg to Maun! Much more comfortable!

10 Day Zanzibar and Serengeti Tour – Zanzibar now included in tour cost!

For 2014 we will be including the Zanzibar excursion in the tour cost for our camping and accommodated, North and South bound, Zanzibar and Serengeti Trek. We made this decision so that we could better manage your expectations when booking this tour. The Serengeti Experience is included in the Activity Package.

Zanzibar is now included in the tour cost of your Zanzibar and Serengeti Trek!

Accommodated Okavango and Chobe Trail, optional Activity Package:
Our accommodated Okavango Delta excursion remains extremely popular. We are pretty sure that this is because it is impossible to get a better rate for a fly in Delta experience – even by going direct to the supplier. As this experience is a Dollar expense for Nomad, you will notice that although the price has increased, it still remains highly competitive and the best rate on the market. If however, you feel that the optional accommodated activity package (including flights into the delta) is out of your budget, we suggest that instead of not taking the tour altogether, that you instead select the camping Delta drive in option for a third of the price and you can then book an optional scenic flight across the Delta if you would like.

Take the more rustic bush camping option in the Okavango Delta on the accommodated tour if the fly in option stretches your pocket too much

Livingstone Departure for East Africa Adventure:
With the increase in the rate of the visa for Zimbabwe, we have decided to formalise a departure from Zambia (Livingstone) if you would prefer this option when travelling North into East Africa. We have organised rates for pre and post tour accommodation and transfers so that you will be entitled to the same services as those starting their tour in Victoria Falls. The truck will leave Vic Falls in the early morning, cross through the border and pick you up on the Zambian side at one predetermined location in Livingstone.

Morocco, Egypt, Madagascar and Ethiopia:
We’ve decided to extend our reaches into Northern Africa and for 2014, will include Morocco and Egypt in our product offering. We are also revising our itineraries for our Madagascar and Ethiopia tours and will be launching these later in the year. We will be sure to advise you as soon as we have this product ready for you.
